Short Bio

Michel Augonnet is President of MVAconnect, a consulting firm for Energy since 2016
Prior to this role he was Senior Vice President for Commercial Solutions since April 2011 reporting to the President of Alstom Grid now GE Grid Solutions. He was in charge of the regional organization which includes the sales organization, the turnkey projects (Solutions) and Service as well as the project management office (PMO) for Alstom Grid ( 4 Billion Dollars revenue, 20000 employees).

Michel began his career in 1974 at Cegelec Energy Division. 10 years as Project Manager for the electrical systems of Koeberg nuclear power station in South Africa, then headed the turnkey hydro power stations department.
In 1993, he was appointed Corporate Commercial Director of Cegelec

In 1996, he became Managing Director of the Energy Division of Cegelec (Electrical Systems and Controls for Power plants and Grids)
In 1998 he was appointed Senior Vice President Commercial & Business Development of Alstom Energy then ABB Alstom Power responsible for the Sales Organization and the Investment Projects Groups (IPPs).

In 2001, he was appointed Executive Vice President of the newly formed International Sales & Service Country Organization of Alstom T&D.
In 2005, he took the position of Executive Vice President in charge of the Systems Business Unit (Turnkey Substations) at Areva T&D, responsible for HVDC and turnkey transmission and distribution projects

His career was earmarked by Customer Relations,Project management,Change management and key investment decisions in technologies for Power Plant Control and Instrumentation,Network Management Systems, and Power Electronics(HVDC),and board memberships.

He is Treasurer (Vice President Finance)and Steering Committee Member of CIGRE (a 15 000 member electrical engineering world wide association ). Prior to this Michel was Chairman of the French Cigre National Committee since 2010.

Michel is Graduate Engineer from SUPELEC (Ecole Supérieure d’Electricité). Throughout his extensive career, he has been based in France, South Africa and Belgium.
