Jordanian International Mechanical Engineering Conference (JIMEC)

     This series of mechanical engineering conferences started in 1995 by the Jordan Engineers Association (JEA) as local conferences.  In its 4th round, in 2003, JEA decided to promote this conference to be an international conference because of the international participation it enjoyed while it is still considered as a local conference.  Since then, the publicity for the conference and its review panel became international and keynote speakers enjoying international reputation were invited.  In addition, issues of global interest were highlighted in the conference topics.

     The last conference in this series, JIMEC6, which was held in October 2007, witnessed participation from over 25 countries including, USA, Canada, UK, India, China, Germany, Ukraine, and most Arab countries.  Topics such as NANO technology, MEMS, recent advances in renewable and alternative energies were among the main topics of the conference.  The number of submitted papers was about 95 papers.  After strict review and evaluation only 60 papers were accepted for presentation.  The number of participants and attendees was about 300.  The conference was under the patronage of his Excellency the prime minister of Jordan and official coverage from local media was present.  An exhibition for the latest technological products in the field of mechanical engineering was held on the side of the conference.  In addition, workshops in autotronics were also held with good participation.

     JIMEC7 which is scheduled to be held in September 2010 is expected to build on the success of JIMEC6.  New features are going to be introduced in JIMEC7 such as the total electronic handling of manuscripts during submittance, review, evaluation, acceptance and publication.  An international technical committee with prominent members in the various fields of mechanical engineering is selected.  The accompanying exhibition is planned to include large number of exhibitors covering industrial, construction, services and maintenance sectors.  International support form esteemed organizations and publishers and institute such as yours is invited to boost the international dimension of JIMEC7.
