Scientific Research Competition (SRC)

“As part of the special activities of the conference, JIMEC’7 is running the “Scientific Research Competition” (SRC).  The Scientific Research Competition aims to highlight outstanding research at postgraduate level and is open to postgraduate research students at M.Sc. or Ph.D. level working in the areas of mechanical engineering, industrial engineering and mechatronics engineering. 

The following are the rules of the competition:

1.     The competition is open to all postgraduate students in mechanical, industrial and mechatronics engineering in any university or research institute.
2.  Interested students should submit an extended synopsis (750 words) and a poster in one of the themes of the conference by 10th August 2010.  The themes are shown at the conference website.  The extended synopsis should be sent to Dr. Lutfi Al-Sharif at the following e-mail address:  lal-sharif@theiet.org
The extended synopsis should contain at least the following content:
· Name of researcher, title of the research and affiliation.
· Research background and motivation
· Aim and objectives
· Research methodology
· Contributions to the knowledge
· Preliminary results
3.    A shortlist of the top ten entries will be produced by 20th August 2010.  Shortlisted candidates will be informed of this decision shortly after the 20th August 2010.
4.    Shortlisted candidates will be exempt from conference registration fees but will have to cover their own airfare and accommodation.
5.    The top 10 entries will be shortlisted to be presented as posters during the conference.
6.    Further judging will take place during the conference to decide the first and second positions.
7.    The first prize is USD 1000 and the second prize USD 500.

All academics are kindly requested to encourage research students at their institutions to participate in this competition.”
